Once in a while, you get the hankering to write a story. Sometimes you write something that is a few sentences, maybe even a few pages but then there's a side of some of you that decides to write an entire novel.
After the big change of DV Radio from past head of DV Radio to its current, a few authors have graced the airwaves which is an understatement. Some of them write stories that are realistic-fiction while others have written about history and sat beside military icons. Then we have those that write about something that has nothing to do with the military, like those old western tales that our grandparents loved to watch on television back when we were knee-high to a grasshopper.
Betsy Ross, shall we say more? Yes. We shall. This is a true sister. We've went to bat for her, supported her, and will continue to do so until she tells DV Radio to jump into a pile of fire ants. Betsy Ross is the author of the FIGHT series which is a realistic-fiction series that centers around the PTSD, suicide, mental illness, addictions, and the realities of life after service for a great many of the military world. Those that have been able to read her series, each book being 100 pages or less, have said how powerful the words on each page are. This series has saved marriages, saved lives, and helped others to understand what is actually going on in the brains of soldiers. The FIGHT series isn't something that many can read in one sitting, and it's meant to be that way. At 100 pages or less for each entry, if you're feeling that you need to drop the book and come back... DO IT! And some have even reached out to DV Radio, Objective Zero, and other resources because of the memories brought back while reading the FIGHT series. This is good and bad but, at the end of the day, it's meant to pull at the heartstrings, trigger a smell from the emotion, and so much more. You can read the FIGHT series by Betsy Ross by visiting her website right here.
You ever feel like you're never going to understand money? Not what a $1 bill is and how it can be spent, but the actual finances part of life. Honestly, most people don't understand the very basics of how to manage their finances because it is not taught in public education which, in all honesty, is absolutely absurd. Well, that's perfectly fine because our brother Chris Santos (a USAF retired Veteran) has wrote a book just for you. It's an easy read, it's for everybody of all educational backgrounds, and it's going to help you to understand the absolute basics of finances. It isn't a "get rich quick" book, it's a guide to better manage your everyday expenses in order to get out of debt a little bit easier while still being able to enjoy life. Chris has lived life, had some financial regrets, and learned from the process. He's well-educated in financing, business, and marketing so what he says isn't some hogwash to throw money at, it's actual help. Anybody can afford his book and you can learn more about finances (as well as your friends and family, even the teens) by purchasing a copy right here!
And then there's those that write books about icons and the history of the military so that it can be preserved for our future generations to envelope, digest, and carry on those stories so they can see how America has been built and continues to help the entire World. One of those is our brother, Mike Guardia. Mike is a brother that isn't just an author, he's a family man that understands our Country's stories are dying each and every day in the way of Veterans passing. Mike Guardia had the pleasure of knowing and sitting down with Lt. General Hal Moore. You know? The role that Mel Gibson played in the movie "We Were Soldiers" which doesn't do enough justice of what really went on, the true emotion, the tears and pain that Lt. General Moore and his troops went through. Mike doesn't only write true stories, he writes the history of the military (which includes battles, vehicles, and so much more), and he has even dove into writing books for Osprey (UK publishing) with a bit of a side-hustle with two children's books! Mike Guardia isn't just a Veteran Author, he's a custodian of heritage... a guardian of history. If you'd like to dive into some history of the American military, and much more, you can certainly do that if you head over to Mike Guardia's website.
All walks of life are different, but almost everybody has some form of trauma and/or PTSD. If you look back in your life then you can probably uncover something that has traumatized you in some way, shape, or form. You know what, that's perfectly okay! Joaquin Juatai is also known as PTSDog and it isn't just a cute nickname, it's a movement to better understand Service Dogs. JJ (as we call him at DV Radio) is well-versed in the ADA, disabilities, and Service Dogs because he has and still does live the life. Most people don't know that there are actual federal protections for those with disabilities and need the help of a service dog, JJ does and he wrote an entire book on it (as of this writing, he's currently writing the second volume). What makes it even better is that he wrote this with his amazing, beautiful, lovely, wonderful, and caring Skeeter who's (sadly) no longer with us. If you knew Skeeter, you know why it touches us so much to speak just his name. But what are you waiting for? Find out more about the ADA, Service Dogs, and your rights by looking into it here!
You hear that? It's the sound of spurs tinging with each step. What's that smell? It's the smell of fresh manure from the horse passing through town carrying the cowboy whose face is torn from the sun. That's what you'll be reading when you grab your six-shooter, dawn that ten-gallon hat, and load your jaw full of chew if you pick up one of his historical and western fiction books. Brother John is one that we need to bring onto DV Radio more often, we love this man. Truly. He has been on once, and it was a very emotional episode finding out what this man has been through and he's still pushing life harder than most people we know. John didn't let any tumbleweeds fill up his path on his journey and we very seriously doubt he'll let anything stop him from living life to the fullest. If you're someone that wants to scratch that itch for cowboys and indians, head over and read a member of Western Writers of America author, John Buzzard's books right here!
Did you think JJ was finished? He most certainly is not! He and Karla Nemitz joined forces to create a children's book but, with a twist! You know that JJ (a.k.a. PTSDog) is DV Radio's residential Service Dog Knowledgebase so what better children's book than that to help kids understand why there's a doggie in the store! Which is fitting, because "Why is That Doggie in the Store?" is the name of his children's book! The art is poetic for adults and eye-catching for children. Best of all? Parents, teachers, and children that are being read the book will [most likely] learn something they never had a clue about when it comes to Service Dogs! So why not teach your little one(s) about Service Dogs by diving into this beautiful book and purchase it here!
