DV Radio began as a fun, "let's just have some fun" type of podcast back in 2014. We cannot tell you the exact date because, sadly, the previous head of DV Radio did not preserve those podcasts thus, we do not have them.

What has stayed true with DV Radio since its inception is that it is not your typical podcast, think of those "Vet Bros" and make it all about them. That's not DV Radio. In a nutshell, we're about having some fun like we did in the barracks. [You can listen to BARRACKS TALK here.] We simply are a bunch of Veterans that are talking to one another and whomever happens to be listening, having some fun, trying to bring the 22 A Day (suicide rate of Veterans and Military personnel that is askew) all while shedding a light on Veteran Owned Businesses along with nonprofits and organizations helping Veterans and their families.

Many people absolutely detest us because "Dysfunctional Veterans." Many believe we grow on the stigma of "Soldiers are fucked up, they're one twig in the fire from burning down the house." In reality, if you dive into the history of "Dysfunctional Veterans" and actually see what we've done and are about, you will see that we embrace that everybody has something wrong mentally. That isn't to say that we flaunt or think it's "cool" to have mental issues, it most certainly is not. However, we also recognize that most Veterans are shunned from everyday society because of this stigma. So we welcome you, whomever you are, with open arms.

DV Radio is raw, unfiltered, uncensored, and no fucks given.

At one point, Dysfunctional Veterans was a two million follower, over six hundred million reach per month page on Facebook. In 2019, during the great Military/Veteran banning by the Zuck, Dysfunctional Veterans was removed from Facebook essentially tearing down a decade of saving lives, helping businesses grow, and organizations/nonprofits flourish. One of those that we work with to this very day is Objective Zero.

Objective Zero came to us and asked us to help them try and launch the Objective Zero app. They knew that this is what Veterans, Active Duty, Guard/Reserve members needed because the suicide hotline was honestly like playing roulette and you either got through in a reasonable amount of time, or you didn't. There was no in-between. Since that day in 2017, Objective Zero isn't a dream any longer. Today, it is an ongoing, growing, life-saving app that is free for all of the aforementioned. They're always learning, implementing, and growing Objective Zero.

Objective Zero is just ONE of the MANY things that Dysfunctional Veterans done while it was working the social media whirlwind. So how does that play into DV Radio? It's simple...

Once Dysfunctional Veterans was Zucked by Zuckerberg, the only two entities left on social media were DV Radio and DV Farm. DV Radio continued doing exactly what Dysfunctional Veterans was doing minus the 24/7/365 real-time moderating for those that were in need of speaking to someone, or needed a resource and did not know how to get that resource without some sort of help.

DV Radio has grown a bit in the sense that we are a little more professional, at being dysfunctional, and we're working with more organizations, nonprofits, and Veteran Owned Businesses than we have before. Most of them can be found under the DVR Family. We're not about the millions of dollars we could be making, that's why we're not jumping on the hype trains and bandwagons like every other military podcast. We're not going to look like your typical interview podcast either. We're our own thing. We're different. We're going to continue to be different.

DV Radio's funds comes from the majority of us, the hosts and staff, while a few people donate a few dollars here and there. Then there's a few pieces of merchandise that gets moved a year (if only that were an exaggeration). But at the end of the day, that's perfectly fine. Our paycheck is knowing that we're helping that one man, one woman, one family get the resources they need. The fact that we're spreading the word and helping that nonprofit or organization that is helping Veterans and their families. How we're helping to advertise, for free in 99% of the cases, that Veteran Owned Business and ask for nothing in return.

DV Radio isn't just a few Veterans talking out of their ass, it's about family. It's about our brothers & sisters and as long as there's a breath in us and we can pay to keep this going, DV Radio is not going anywhere.
